A Bigger Table

Affordable intentional community housing for all of us

About Us

We believe humans thrive in healthy, supportive, social environments.
We believe everyone deserves to thrive.

Today very few of us feel like we are thriving.
Very few of us would say we belong to a healthy, supportive community.

We feel isolated.
We struggle to thrive. . . .

We believe we can HEAL our broken communities.
We believe we ALL can thrive.

To bring back thriving, supportive communities we need to address the design of the spaces we inhabit, and our learned behaviors and habits that keep us isolated in our own little boxes.

A Bigger Table will leverage research in environmental psychology to redesign the places we live to encourage human interaction rather than encouraging retreat into isolation. Bring back front porches, light-filled common spaces, community dinners, find yourself getting to know your neighbors, spending time together, sharing in the good times, and lightening each other's loads in the bad.

Scaffolding concepts from behavioral psychology will help us all learn more communal behaviors and habits. Take the stairs and pass your neighbors on their porch, say hello. Learn to drop by and chat again. Enjoy playing with your neighbor's kids. Relish in your shared gourmet community dinners.

A complex system of changes has led us to isolation and loneliness. We need a robust system to bring it back together.
